Set in the same world as Scarred and Kilt and Mine to Chase. Laurann did it again, people!!! It was quite short and not a great deal of character development. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account.
Being a novella, this story was short and for that the story was quite rushed and the storyline wasn’t very fleshed out. Charity rated it did not like it Nov 21, I’m a series fan! San Francisco Review of Books: Book Review: ‘Lacey and Lethal’ by Laurann DohnerThey went from meeting to saying “I love yous” lacry a very short time frame that wasn’t very believable. And if someone was silly enough to question it to any degree than the basics they would find out why that would have been a stupid idea as they hurt for a long long long time. I loved the cover Even Lethal’s name gives me some very interesting th What can Sohner say? Wish it was longer. It’s been a terrific ride so far and I’m really happy that I finally had the time to commit to writing full time.
KaurannThe best of the three. Love, love, love it!!!! Lacey and Lethal by Laurann Dohner – FictionDBSo she captures Lethal and is set to kill himlet him meet the sun, until she decides to use him for her pleasure. It was a shorter book but it had the drama, romance and danger for a complete, satisfying read so don’t pass it up just because of that or you’ll miss out on another wonderful book by Ms.Until she captures Lethal.
It was perfect, from the beginning till end. Trivia About Lacey and Lethal I do think it would have been much better if longer which would have resulted in more world building and depth to characters. Lacey and LethalTo know that someone that big and strong can be brought down by a annd woman. Insta-luv takes some doohner for me. I absolutely love this book! Lacey isn’t so keen on the whole bloodsucking thing so she refuses to let him touch her with his mouth.
I live in Southern California and I can’t function without iced coffee. It’s a dream come true.At the beginning of the short she is sad with the grief of her sisters dea After losing her sister in a vampire attack, Lacey has dedicated her life to hunting and killing any vampire she can find. I believe in romance, I’ve alw I had a rather short area here telling a little about me but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so After reading this book I want to find my own vampire and tie him up and have my way with him. They are usually after each other and you can get nothing done with them fighting all the time. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90’s. I can’t wait to read the next one.I really love the New Species Series.
I’m a full time home ‘supervisor’ which is a nice word for saying I’m a housewife. Bound and questioned by a lovely and not to mention horny Lacey, things begin to escalate and change quickly. I also enjoyed their verbal sparring which was quite funny and entertaining.I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories.

Lacey and Lethal is the booklinked to Scarred and Kilt (Something Wicked This Way Comes - Volume 2) andMine to Chase. I’m not sure when it will be added toKindle, Barnes & Noble, and various other sites. I’m sorry I just have theone link. I know some of you had problems reading the excerpt so I’ll walk youthrough it. Go to this, look at the cover, and click on the magnifyingglass on the top right of the book cover.
Another window will pop open. Nowlook at the bottom left side of that window.
Excerpt is right there. You clickit and it will show up for you. Inother news.Moon hit the NY Times Bestseller list and USA Today’s lists. Thankyou so much!!! Sometimes I can’t believe it when I see my name and my booksthere. It feels surreal. I never thought that so many people wouldread my books.
I had a dream but it never involved any lists. I’ve come aLONG way from writing in my spare time and bribing my friends to read my booksjust to get feedback. My friends, a lot of them, don’t really read books so youcan imagine how challenging it was to get them to sit down for a few hours.
NowI get to do what I love and I just feel so blessed that so many people spendtheir hard earned money to read what I write. Ibought an office house and its operational.
I’m putting in the mega hours towork on books. I’m behind.have been for months. I apologize for that. I gotill and then my private life became a bit hectic. Now I have a place to gowithout interruptions. No phones (I take my cell for emergencies), no oneringing the doorbell (if they do, I ignore it because it’s just someone sellingsomething), and no cats, kids, or loud noises besides whatever music I’mplaying.
I’ll be turning in books to my editor by the end of summer. I WILL catch up. It was a long anddifficult debate inside my head on ifthe added expenses of having an office house were justified. In theend.getting the books written and turned in was my priority. It istotally worth it. Writingisn’t easy but it is fun.
You are in a story―typing along.and then bam!Something pulls you out. A kid coming into my office. Someone callingto talk to me. The cats jumping on my desk and trying to lay on my keyboard orscratching at the back of my chair. I would have to reread everything I’dwritten to get back into the story.and it’s time consuming. Your head has tobe in the right place.
Sometimes that’s hard to do with constant distractions. Now I’ll get in some fantastic word count and really move forward with eachbook. It took time to set everything up at the O.H (office house) but now it’sready to go. I’veseen a drastic increase in the amount of writing and editing I get done.
Yippee!I really want to get books out for ALL my series, close a few of them bycompleting the books I want to write for them, and.launch the new 'not so secret' series thatI’ve been talking about for about a year and a half. I am REALLY excited aboutmy ‘not so secret’ series and I’ve gotten amazing feedback from the few peoplewho have read the first book in it. I refuse to launch it until at least fivebooks are completed in that series. I get asked that. I don’t want peoplewho read them to have to wait a long time between those books. It’s toughjuggling so many series. It really is.
I don’t want to neglect them andunfortunately, there’s only one of me. Cloning.I dream.but it’s not reallygoing to happen. Five of me would be AWESOME. I could assign each clone aseries and crack the whip to write. So with that said, I’m going to writebooks for the current series and close them out.
Cyborgs and New Species willremain open. That means that I don’t have a set amount of books I plan to writefor them. I keep adding books to write to those two series. OnceI close at least one or two of those series out.I should have used up enoughof my ‘spare/fun’ time to have finished the first five books in the ‘not sosecret’ series.and I’ll put out a book trailer for the series so you get ahint about what it’s about. I can’t wait to upload that video. I havedaydreamed about what it will look like. Those first five books will be turnedin at the same time so their release dates are set.you’ll know when to expectthem.
By the time the 5th one is released.I should have plenty of time towrite a few more of them. What you just did gave me hope of what is to come in the next moths regarding my book buying situation. I better start putting away money for all the books;-) it sounds fantastic;-) I can hardly wait. It seems like you are working your little fingers to the bone;-) Thank You so much for that. I wish I could translate all your books so that my friends and other people in Poland could read them as well.
They would love it as much as me- in fact I know that - every time new book comes out I have to translate and say what it is about to my two best friends:-) Thanks so much for all the update Laurann- you're the best! Hello dear miss dhoner i read every book of ur's i could put my hands on, although it sometimes a challenge I must say, because i live in Israel, but all the same i wanted to say ur a very talented woman i love how u could make the most factionary things believable in ur writing and i enjoy reading them immensely congratulations on moon, truth being told the moment i finished reading it i known it is going to be a big success, and do take care of ur self, books are important but health and family always come first. Dear Laurann, thanks for your books. I love all of them. I can't wait for each new release.
I read a ton of books. It's is one of my favorite things to do. You are one of my favorite authors.
One of my favorite things about you is the fact that you release so many books. I never have a long wait for a new book. That is the greatest gift that you give your fans. We love living in your world and we keep getting more.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Keep on writing and I will keep buying them. Lots of love, Sandi. Dohner, you are seriously an inspiration to writers everywhere.
I love everything you said about the writing distractions that occurs in daily life, as well as wanting to finish a couple of series so WE won't have to wait (one of my pet peeves, and plan on doing exactly what you are doing for my future readers!). I just really look forward to you 'not so secret' secret book (Did you post a blog saying what they might be about?), and many more works from you. Love your stories, your writing, you period, I gues is what i'm trying to say. Glad life is stable for now and you're taking advantage of that while it lasts. Once again, looking forward to more good reading coming my from you. As ever, you never fail to disappoint this reader.Talk to you soon,L.Bucio.
Dohner has only been updating this blog when she has a book coming out. And even then she only checks on posts for maybe a week after updating. To be fair, she does admit in this particular update she is behind in her writing due to health issues that lingered all winter. So, until she gets caught up on her many series that we all love, her blog and facebook updates are few and far between.
Personally, as much as I get a fan thrill from interacting with my favorite authors, getting the newest book is more important to me than a weekly update.:)But, hey, we still have each other to answer questions, right? AnonymousShe wanted to release 6 books in 2013 IIRC.But all we've got so far is 1 book and 2 short stories.Personally I do not consider short stories as 'books'.She said she almost done with Brand, Blackie and River books. Why not finished them first, send them to editor and then start True project??? Readers would have something while waiting for next NS book. And then WHY writing book about character READERS don't know and DO NOT care about when there is so many characters waiting for story we would LOVE to read?I don't understand her logic.I personally do not feel the thrill when I think of True's book. I do not anticipate it. I couldn't care less of his character. What I do feel is disappointment and anger that hundreds of people practically BEGGED her for Vengeance, Flame or Jericho's books and she gives a. about her fans and what they want.I love Mrs.
Dohner writing but I hate the way she treats people. Moon another great book. You are always on my must read list.
Cyborgs, New Species, Mates, Zorn Warriors and Raines oh my.Congratulations to you, congratulations to you, congratulations to you dear Laurann, congratulations to you. You ARE one very TALENTED author.
Note: Be thankful you didn't hear sing the above to you. I have been told I make dogs and cats cry with my singing.Hope you took some well deserved time for yourself and your family this summer. Look forward to reading whatever comes out next. A big thank you from Laura in NY. Just finished Cyborg series; prior to that the New Species one.
I'm starting Zorn Warriors now. I had to learn never, ever, ever, EVER to start one of your series if I have work to do. Things go undone because I end up lost in the worlds you create. The Cyborgs were awesome (I loved the redemption of Zorus simply because he came across as so irredeemable. I love what you did with him. I can't tell you how many super late nights I spent because I couldn't put a story down.
I have to take a break, do some real work, then come back to book one of Zorn. I really hope I have the strength to do that (smile)!! AnonymousI've waited patiently, like everyone else, but am finally irritated that for THREE MONTHS we can't get so much as an update from a WRITER. I think it's unreasonable to keep your fans in the dark, if you need time to write we understand- take a year even but give a heads up! I feel like she's avoiding us like the plague. At this rate, if this is how it's going to be for the next 75 books I'm considering just dropping the series cause ill be dead by the 19th book and all the waiting will have been for nothing. We're eager because we WANT to read the series not because we need to so don't sleep on us.
AnonymousI'm with you, ladies.I have an impression that we, her fans, are importunate flies that irritates the hell out of her!Her hiring the assistant (this ditter lady) to handle her fans speaks volumes how much annoying she finds us.She seems to forget that that was OUR money that bought her fancy, new house and honestly I refuse to waste more of my money on someone who treats me like shit on the heel. Because I just DO NOT believe that she didn't have five minutes in past THREE MONTHS to write simple: 'Hi, I'm still in progress with True but I remember and appreciate that you're supporting me and waiting patiently for my next book.' She takes us for granted. To bad success went to her head.:(. She has had a busy year. She moved, helped her mother move, got sick.
On top of that she has a family that deserves her time also. She got behind in her writing and hiredcan assistant to help her. That is not ditching her fans, merely trying to make her own life a little easier. If you have followed her blogs you know she has her own schedule gorwhich characters get books and does NOT take fan suggestions. She has been very open about this. Many of my favorite authors do not have a blog at all. Give the woman a break. I don't know about you guys, but there was a time in my life where I was to busy to get to the Internet, let alone consid er r blogging.
Anonymous'.that people.need to read what she actually puts on here.' Actually if you were avid reader of this blog you would know that Laurann has a tendency to put on here a lot of promises, she has huge problem to keep. Go through past posts and see for yourself that every time she wrote about finishing book by some deadline she ALWAYS failed and then ALWAYS came in with excuses. You wrote September 3rd she was a day from finishing True and she planned to finish the book tomorrow (September 4th). She didn't update here or FB so I'm guessing she didn't go through with it. No surprise.I learned long time ago not to believe her words. Unfortunately, she has a issues with consistency. As for ignoring her fans and their requests, she simply sabotaging herself.
Her prerogative, though. But if you own a shop - being rude and indifferent to your client and his/her wishes is the simplest way to lose a customer. It's not very wise to alienate people you make money on.
My love, laurann dohner has had surgery on her leg today. They removed a cyst the size of a walnut from the back of her leg.
Its still bleeding and hurts like hell. She´s not allowed to use the stairs for the next 24 hours.
She´s really disappointed because she wanted to finish True tonight. She said to tell you all that she will try her level best to have it done tomorrow night. She loves you all and wanted to keep you updated. Thank youWas posted complete with picture of said op site by ditter on wednesday.I note the will try her best comment and also the will finish, not to read but to send to editor, besides i dont really care how long a book takes to write because i read hundreds of books and enjoy them all as a general rule.
I buy the books for my own enjoyment not because of the auther, hence i never read reviws because i like to make up my own mind. At the end of the day its up to you what you do buteveryone has their own opinion. AureliaOMG SERIOUSLY?!? Sulking and stamping your feet like whiny little petulant children justcos she is unable to write faster or not in the sequence you demanded or cos she doesn't update as often?
'Cos she obviously has one! And let's not forget, she had SURGERY! I'm sure the FIRST thing she said to the nurse after surgery was, 'oooh, please get me a laptop 'cos I need to write or my angry little fans will be pissed at me for not being a good little writing slave.' Everyone just needs to shut up and be happy she still writes despite shit fan like you idiots. I hope she takes as much time as she needs to recover and I will be happy for ANY future books she can possibly put out.
Ima gonna go off on a rant, so if you’re easily offended. Stop reading now. Part 1I’m just as disappointed as anyone else that the blog hasn’t been updated, but I don’t believe for one second that LD is dismissing her fans or treating us like shit. And frankly, the whining and self-entitlement here is just pissing me off! She has admitted to ill health and issues in her private life.
Where is your compassion? Lingering illnesses can have profound effects—lack of focus, depression, lack of energy, etc. The advent of FB and blogging gives the illusion that authors are uber accessible- but this is her life! The woman is allowed to take a break. Just because she hasn’t told us every little detail of her life doesn’t mean that she’s ignoring her fans.
She still published 2 novels by July and is almost done with another. (FYI, I got sick in January and it was only in the last 2 months that I have been able to even interact with anyone. So, unless it’s your life you have no room to throw stones. Rant: Part 2As for making promises she can’t deliver—that’s between LD and her publisher. LD has published 28—yes, 28—novels since 2009. That’s a phenomenal output for a writer. Writing is a creative process—it’s not like baking a casserole and telling everyone that “dinner’s ready at 6, come and get it.” Sometimes ideas and words flow smoothly, sometimes not.
It sounds like bringing True’s story to life has been tougher than she expected. Also, I’ve noticed that many authors have more than one series in production so that they don’t get burnt out writing the same thing over and over—my guess is that’s why she’s published her vampire series. Rant: Part 3The character order that LD writes her series is her choice. These novels are HER intellectual and creative output. If she has a vision the overall story arc will take, then that is how it will be. She has admitted she will be writing the stories of our fan favorites, such as Brass, Ven, Flame, Breeze, Sky, etc.
Stomping our feet and whining that we want our Christmas presents NOW, isn’t productive or reasonable. We should be thankful she is still writing.
I’ve run across several authors who just abandon writing completely in mid-series. Jaid Black, the founder of Ellora’s Cave, is the most notable example.
In my opinion, the only thing an author owes her readers is a well written story for our money. I feel that LD gives us that. KathyMartha.you expressed yourself very well and on most points I have to agree. I understand that even with the best of intentions life tends to intrude, however; even though she loves what she does, Laurann is not authoring books as a hobby. This is a business and the way she makes her living. I have to agree with a previous comment that if you owned a shop and were consistently indifferent to your customers they will go elsewhere. If I pay someone for a product or service and they don't hold up their end I will fire them or spend my money elsewhere.
If I consistently gave excuses about why I keep missing deadlines to the person who signs MY paycheck I'd quickly find myself in the street. This is a business, not a coffee-klatch with your girlfriends. Kathy, I understand your reasoning and appreciate your comment, but we definately disagree! I feel LD was completely upfront about her health issues and being behind in her writing. She may have set a goal to release True, but I (for the life of me) am unable to find a specific deadline listed on any of her posts. I see where she WANTED to be done, but nothing that says it was due to her publisher by X date. After reading your post earlier today, I turned into a 'crazy-stalker fan' and checked out LD's personal FB page.
I noticed that she essentially stopped posting much of anything by June 27th in order to focus on her writing. That personally doesn't strike me as someone who is treating this is a hobby or a coffee-klatch with her BFFs.I'm also confused about you comparing this book release with a 'goods not delivered' issue. I don't believe any of us have paid for True yet. So,(as I understand your comment in this context) you state you would fire someone for missing deadlines. But, was LD aware or agree to any timetable other than what she personally set with her publisher?I don't mean to be harsh. I honestly believe the anger and frustration from you and other posters stems from the fact that we LOVE her books. We WANT more, and we want to hear from her-that's why we read her blog and follow the comments.
But I'd rather have her working on a book than an update. And I firmly believe that health issues take priority over my personal desire to read a new book.Kathy, where you spend your money is your choice, just as I choose where to spend mine.
But IMO we need to stop taking it personally when the blog is not updated and CHILLAX. Ok ladies, I sent a message to LD through FB messaging asking if she planned to update her blog soon, and if not, could I post some storyline updates from her FB personal page posts.
She said she's tried to find time to update but hasn't been able to yet. She did give her permission for me to share upcoming story line hints. FYI, I scrolled through 165 messages from a post on June 27th to find these tidbits for us. And if you're wondering-NO, she hasn't added me a FB 'friend'. This is all public accessible posts.LD says she has over 20 future books planned for New Species and that the list keeps growing. Here are some of the hints that I was able to write down. Not every character was mentioned, so don’t freak out if I don’t have hints for certain fan favorites.
(Smiley, I’m talking about you sweetie.) She has stated on other blog posts that they will get books. The timelines for her books overlap, and many partials are already written so she is working on piecing together the correct order of the stories. They are all interconnected so that means new(er) character’s stories may need to be told first as there may be a cause and effect in later books. Some of this commentary is my own, but I think you can tell which.Part 1Breeze—a large portion of her book is written. LD hints that “everyone will be happy” with her human male and that it’s someone from the Task Force with the initial “T”. My guess is it’s gotta be Trey, right?Creek—(She had the most interaction at Reservation with Zandy and I think Tammy) She has a partial story written with a male “younger and hotter than Tim”.
Does this mean someone from the Task Force?Flame—A large portion is of his book is written. Let’s hope he follows his heart and calls Amanda.
I know many readers don’t like her, but I think she uses bravado and a smart mouth to hide a wounded heart. I feel she afraid to believe she’s truly worthy of love.Brass—most of his book is written, but evidently Trey’s story has to come out first. What happens in Trey’s book affects events in Brass’ book. Part 2Harley—Lives up to his namesake! Harley likes to ride his bike in full leathers, his helmet hiding his distinctive NS features.
Bad boy that he is, that means he sneaks off Reservation as often as he can. During one ride, he nearly runs over a woman having the worst day of her life.
She’s a tough cookie, but her car has broken down on the side of the road and can use a helping hand. Well, it’s a good thing Harley is there to offer her a ride. Let's hope he get's some badboy tatoos. Vroom, vroom, baby!Darkness—his female is introduced in another book, so his story is further down the line.
When we read his story it will be explained why he chose the name “Darkness”. Expect to have a few tissues ready—readers of the partial say it’s a tearjerker. Darkness’ female is an FBI agent who is sent undercover to the NSO. Her job is to report NSO information to her boss—-a major. who has a grudge against NS. (Could it be Director Boris from Fury’s story? Remember, he's the one that tried to get Ellie to lie about Fury and file a false report.) As the NSO interrogator, Darkness is more attuned to falsehoods, so he’s skeptical of the FBI agent’s cover story.Ven—As more NS are found and freed, Reservation is outgrowing it’s boundaries.
NS offer to buy land from the surrounding land owners and if someone refuses to sell, NS of course accepts their decision. The problem is(as usual), the anti-NS (a)holes who decide that THEY want the surrounding land in order to continue the harassment of NS and they are prepared to do anything to get it.
Ven’s future female is a woman who has refused to sell. She lives just outside the walls and when she is attacked Ven must rescue her.
If you remember from Shadow, Ven adopted a litter of pit bull puppies that were abandoned at the gate of Reservation. Somehow these rescues are able to play some role in Ven’s story –do they protect Ven’s female? Part3Jaded—He’s one of the Council members and described as “pretty” by his friend Bestial.
(I think that was in Tiger’s story) As the “social face” of NS, Jaded attends a LOT of publicity events. Something happens and forces one of the Public Relations team to “go above and beyond to protect him”.Bestial—is kidnapped by rednecks. This storyline is a maybe.Leo—likes to leap the Reservation fences. He is, after all, a cat breed.
A nearby farm owner calls Animal Control when Leo is spotted near the livestock. Imagine the officer’s surprise when she arrives with a cat carrier to capture him! LD doesn't say cat carrier, but it would be funny.Jericho—gets a book, but I have no details.927—comes out after Darkness’ book. Part 4Let's talk about the humans:Trey—gets his story.
But hints lead me to believe that it’s tied with Breeze.Shane—(introduced in Shadow as part of the Task Force who rescued Beauty.) Well, he hooks up with a “smaller Species”. Must be a Gift female.
Tiny, Half-pint, or someone new? It will be nice to see some of the Gift females healing emotionally now that Joy (the “shrink” who is Moon’s female) is on staff with NSO.Jake—(Jessie’s brother) hooks up with a NS female. LD hints that it may be Kit.
Jake is described as a “pain in the ass” and Kit has her own issues. Two strong personalities! Fireworks. That's all I have. I post these with the caveat that they are a combination of hints and speculation.
LD may change things up!Good night, good luck, and let's play nice. Thanks Karen and Aurelia. But to be fair, Ditter was hired to update the FB and Twitter feeds. I honestly think LD planned to update this blog, but her health issues put her behind. From what I understand, the surgery was extremely painful-she can't walk, can't sit for long periods, can't climb stairs, and doesn't want to take much medication because it makes her disoriented. I can imagine she was also in a fair amount of discomfort even before surgery. But if she every does decide to hire me-I'm ready!
Will work for Advance Copies. Hi Ladies,Glad you enjoyed the update! It was exciting to find all those hints and tidbits and share them with you. Thank you to everyone suggesting other authors-some of whom I've read, and some I will definately check into. Here's a list of authors and romance/erotica books that I've thoroughly enjoyed:Zannie Adams-'Hold' SciFi/escape type novelLynsay Sands-Argeneau Vampire SeriesNicky Charles-'Mated', 'Bonded', 'Betrayed' 'The Keeping' these are a werewolf seriesEve Langlais-'Abducted' series or Cyborg series. I also like 'Mated to the Devil' which is actually about werewolves.Evangeline Anderson-Kindred series SF/Linda Mooney-I like all her booksP.L. Parker-'The Chalice' SFJanet Miller-Gaian Series SFAll the books I've listed are all 'Hero bonds ONLY to Heroine' stories. No menage, nothing kinkier than LD writes.
All fairly 'vanilla'. If you want something wilder, I can recommend several of those, too. Hope you check out my book picks-I will certainly look at what others have suggested. AnonymousMartha, I'm glad you are interested in our suggestions. I have read the Nicky Charles and Evangeline Anderson series you noted. I also have read a couple of Eve Langlais' books.
Like you, I enjoyed them greatly. I keep checking to see if Nicky Charles has any more coming out on kindle, but sigh, to no avail. I will check out the others you listed.
I first read Linda Howard's Son of the Morning in paperback. I decided I wanted it on kindle. Since I already had it, I put it on my wish list to see if the price came down. One day, it had gone down to $.99, and I bought it quickly. It is now back to full price, but I think you might enjoy it. Have you ever read TM Nielsen's Heku and Dimensions series? I enjoyed them also.
Martha, that's a great list. I especially love Lynsay Sands' and Evangeline Anderson's books.Have you tried Anna Zaires Krinar Chronicles?
(Close Liaisons, Close Obsession, Close Remembrance) It's a completed series, so give it a try. On a hotness level, it's about on a par with Evangeline Anderson. Also, Tina Folsom has a great series called Scanguards Vampires. Similar to Lynsay Sands in that each book focuses on one character, but other characters are introduced. The first book is called Samson's Lovely Mortal.
AprilVanilla books are boring:) I understand some people selecting only M/f books, that's their preference. Personally, I want to read books that are all fantasy, ergo why I like Laurann's books.
Martha, I've read every author and book you've posted. Please share the 'wilder' books. If you haven't read Kaitlyn O'Connor may I suggest- Genesis, The Spawning, The 9th Orb, The Lion's Woman. She has several good reads. Those are the one's I've read repeatedly. If I read it more than once I tend to follow the author, plus I have a huge SF romance addiction. Of course I'm saddened to see the Zorn series go, but I can make up my own stories about them in my mind;) Hopefully Laurann is feeling well soon!!!
AprilAwesome Martha, I will look you up! I would love to exchange names of a few good authors/ books! I absolutely love to read, and read just about everything I can get my hands on since I never sleep:)Hi Anonymous, Kaitlyn O'Connor's books are wonderful!!! I have a thing for her first two Hirachi books The Spawning and Genesis. I know I've read those two books dozens of times. Probably many more to be honest.
The 3rd fell short and I've never read it again. I wish that she would come out with something new, but I'd rather have an author take his/ her time and create something wonderful instead of throwing subpar books at us. Ral's Woman is one of my most favorite of Laurann's books. It's full of awesomesauce;)Hestia, We each have our own opinion of what makes a book vanilla. Personally, the three series that I enjoy of LD's are the Zorn, Cyborg and NS series.
Those books all have strong alpha male's with dominant tendencies. I don't consider them vanilla, though I don't find them extremely kinky either. I consider them a nice mocha flavor. A book doesn't have to contain a M/m or M/f/M, etc. For me to form the opinion that the book isn't vanilla.
I got the T.M Nielson books on your suggestion, Anonymous. The first in each series were free on Amazon. Son of the Morning Star went on my wish list-I've got so many books on my TBR list.Ok April, this smut listing is for YOU!;) Favs are indicated by.s.Tracy St. John-her Kalquor series is fantastic. Erotica Sci-Fi with BDSM,M/M/F/M.Loribelle Hunt-Delroi Connection series. Mild BDSM.Evanne Lorraine-Seduction Mission series.
Future cyborgs come back to rescue heroines. M/M/F/M.Kit Rocha-Beyond series.
You name it, it's in this dystopian series. Think Sons of Anarchy meet post apocalyptic world with romance. LOVE IT!.Kaitlyn O'Connor/Madelaine Montegue/Anjelique Anjou-all the same person. O'Connor is Sci-Fi, Montegue is contemporary. All are erotica with M/M/F/M.Allyson James-Tales of the Shareem series. Sci-Fi BDSM.Lolita Lopez-Grabbed series. Sci-Fi, BDSM.Cherise Sinclair-'Starlight Rite'.
BDSMAvery Aster-'Undressed' and 'Unscrupulous', both contemporary books with a 'sex in the city' feel.I can list LOTS more, but these are a few of my favorite authors just from my Nook app. If you like these then I'll go through my Kindle app. AprilUgh, Martha I typed this long response and it said published, however it isn't here!!! I have to get to work so I'll make this shorter. I've read most of what you've posted,If you haven't read Cherise Sinclair's Shadowland Bdsm books they are yummy.Kresley Cole is my favorite author, just read them all.
She's that good. Okay she is beyond good I want to bask in her imagination:)Christine Feehan has several series that have been mentioned. I really liked the Carpathian's the most, more so in the beginning.
When I read Dark Storm I was a bit bored, not as tasty as her other books. Though I'm going to read Dark Lycan to see if she's really went in a direction I don't care for.If you like vanilla lovey dovey weepy kinda of romance check out Catherine Anderson, I have to admit that I check her page almost as much as Kresley's. Just read them all, some are so stinkin' good and sweet. Kind of men that just break your heart in a good way.Karen Marie Moning is pretty good.
I've even read her young adult book.More extreme bdsm that may offend some reader's Denise Hall, Mercy and Judgement are the two I can think of right at this moment.Okay gotta go, but I have tons more to share. Im a sucker for christine feehans dark carpathian and ghostwalker series, i have always read lots of books since being a child, i dont have a preference for type as long as i can lose myself in a book, leaving behind stress, i read because i dont really watch much tv, i like to use my own imagination to picture scenes and heros, and heroines rather than see someone elses vision,How about you guys. Hestia i think my first romance/erotica book was after my bad marriage too, now i have a wonderful man who loves me for who i am:) x. AnonymousAfter reading this blog, I just wanted to state a few things. I too have grown frustrated with the slow to no updates to this site.(this is her official website right?), I don't go on FB, so I don't go on LD site there. I read the frustrated rants on both sides.
I respect LD and I respect her having a life and personal issues. I myself work full time, husband kids the whole nine yards. I 'have a life' to much of one in fact and that's probably other peoples issue as well. I don't do TV. My books are 'my time'. My way of coming down from the day. I read many authors(most of the ones people have suggested) but LD has created very colorful characters and stories its very hard to wait and as much as I want to be understanding it is very frustrating.
She is one of the good authors out there who keep your interest. So many are the same old, same old. I have tried other books but most don't have it. With her I know its going to be good and I can just be mindless and just relax in my overstuffed chair and blanket and be alone, I don't have to be anyone's anything I can just escape. I miss her connecting and communicating with us on this blog. Little messages with updates and such.
I am so overdue for some 'my time'. AnonymousYou women are ridiculous. Especially those of you who stated you were going to stop reading her books because she hasn't posted?! She has a 75 book deal with eloras cave!! SHE WILL write more books. Or she'll get sued. But you're especially ridiculous for posting your hate on here.
She has a life! A normal person goes to work for 8-12 hours. She's constantly working and losing time with her family to appease your lonely souls.
And now when she needs your support you turn your back on her because she hasn't provided you with steamy books?! Jane austen didn't have a blog, Stephen king didn't have a blog but they're beloved authors. Get over yourselfs. She's been dishing out books every year, it probably takes Stephen King that long to just research for his book.So stop harassing her. She had surgery! She also has a house full of kids and a husband she's probably been neglecting for all of you and im sure they're happy to have her back for a while. So get your heads out of your asses and go to the gym if you need another way to spend 'mommy' time.
And for the person who said 'we bought laurann her house'. Go away, i also' bought' Stephen king his house and didn't bitch when it took him over 20 years to write a sequel to the shining. If you're mad at laurann for having a life go to hell. AnonymousAnonymous just reading Your rant, one word comes to mind ASSHOLE.Who are you to insult anyone. Trust me, you rant is no better then anyone else's and seriously your anger issues clearly show that you think you are so much superior then any one else.
That's the convience of the internet, hide behind a computer and be a total bitch. Your just another house wife like everyone else.
Like you said, go to hell, why don't you get of the computet and finish the laundry so your family has clean clothes. AnonymousOk lets get back to the books after months of of telling my sister to read the NS books she finally has and loves them as do i and in conversation she asked me who would i fall for out of the ns men like who whould i pick and can only pick from the books that are out at the moment as we know them i thourt this a horrible question realy as love them all but in the end i answered mine was valiant loved his book and him under his front he puts up hes a bit of a teddy bear. My sister picked justice. So i ask you all this question.
Who would you pick if you achuly fell for them and why? Remember can only be someone who has a book x. That's difficult.I'm torn between Fury and Obsidian.I loved Fury for his obsessive/possessive behavior toward his woman but I seriously got hots for Obsidian's bossy, animistic and dominant attitude - I know that's weird but I REALLY liked how he thought that he owns his woman and has a right to tell her what to do.:)So.
I HATED, hated, hated Justice. The only Species who reminded me of human men double standard behavior (I'll keep her and gonna f.ck her until someone more suitable come along). And unfortunately since his book his character only gets worse.:(. KarenWow.tough choice.
I would have to pick Valiant. I loved the way he fell head-over-heels for Tammy immediately.
No guessing.no head games, and when he said to Tiger 'she's not coming back to me, is she?' Then laid down on the bed and cried.that was it!!
I agree with you, Anonymous, about Justice. I liked him until his book when he turned into a real jerk! And what was with Jessie?? This independent, intelligent, kick-ass chick turned into a wuss that allowed him to treat her like crap and kept making excuses for his behavior. You can keep both of them. This is a tough choice.
I'm with Julie, that Wrath is one of my favorites. But I think also Lauren is one of my favorite love interests. She's smart, funny, caring, and brave. I like the story of Brawn, but he does act like a bit of an (a)hole to Becca in the cage.
And then Becca is whiny afterwards. Valiant is another story that I have read several times.I can't wait for Ven's story though. Even though he was super offensive in Wrath's story, his confession to Tiger was heartbreaking. I'm with Cylver-I love a redemption story. Here's some more exciting tidbits.(gosh, I feel like Perez Hilton right now.
Minus the snark!)For all of us Cyborg fans (drumroll please) BLACKIE is only about 2 chapters away from being finished. It's been 2 looonnnng years since the last installment of the Cyborg series. If LD continues true to form, then Blackie's story should pick up in the middle of the Markus Models android terror.
If you remember, in TAUNTING KRELL, Cyan listened to a recording of a woman being kidnapped from the Belta Station. The woman was kidnapped/rescued just before the station inhabitants made a fatal last stand against the Markus hive. Survey says.it was Blackie retrieving????? I have no idea. For fans who have been missing the Raines saga, Cousin BRAND is about to get his story. LD states that she is about 3 chapters away from finishing his story. I have to re-read the Raine books to refresh my memory. I can't even recall a cousin Brand at this point.:)(Sigh)Maybe I'm too hopeful on the release date for TRUE, but I was hoping that she might have TRUE available at the Romanticon event in mid-October.
Or at least a mock-up so attendees can pre-order. That's the former sales exec in me thinking strategically, LOL.
I want to thank everyone for the fantastic recommendations on books. I've finished the Krinar Chronicles (all 3) and the Zion Warriors. I'm already a big fan of C.L. Scholey, although her BAY'S MERCENARY lacked the writing skill of her Castian series. (Too much 'tell', not enough 'show').I found another indie author, M.K.
She has 2 novels that, in my opinion, are nicely told stories. However, they are seriously in need of an editor. I can overlook typos and misuse of words, but if you can't then steer clear of these books because they are filled with grammar mistakes.Am trying to get into Christine Feehan's Carpathian series.
I've had the first book for over a year, but abandoned it after 65 pages. I'm trying again, since others love it. Martha, I've been a fan of the Carpathian series for a long time, but it took me a long time to get into them. The first book of any series is always hard for me, with the author's writing style to get used to, and the world-building. Then, I hated the hero of the second book (even as a domineering Carpathian, he was over the top!) but I read the third one and liked it a lot and then kept going. I'm currently reading Dark Lycan and actually having a hard time of it. Too much fighting, not enough character development, I keep getting distracted.I'm so glad you liked the Krinar Chronicles!
Anna Zaires says that even though Korum and Mia have their Happy Ever After, she'll be writing more K books!
